Giving genius a voice
The first story I heard about genius was about Newton’s apple falling off the tree. So, for a long time, I believed geniuses worked alone. That the more isolation they had, the more likely it was they’d have their Eureka moment.
But now the world is so complex, how can one person come up with the perfect solution or idea?
Technical experts will solve our world's biggest problems. But not with individual epiphanies. Solutions to today's complex problems come by working with others.
Collaboration is how the sparks of inspiration start to fly. That’s when experts will come up with sustainable solutions to the challenges we face as a race.
The future of humankind relies on these people having the skills to be able to connect with others. If technical experts aren’t clear what they’re doing, and they don’t have the info they need, they aren’t primed to find solutions that will make a difference to our world.
Even when they find those solutions, they rely on the help of commercial experts to advise on marketing, sales, production and distribution to bring their technical scientific advances to life.
What if you don’t have that support? Lots of people have great ideas. But not all great ideas make it out into the world. Often they fall over because things get lost in translation. Without effective communication, nothing good sees the light of day.
Today's technical experts need to be effective communicators. Because the future of many relies on them being able to articulate and sell their dream.
